IDEA Public Schools is interested in hiring a Staff Data & Compensation Analyst to assist with maintaining the organization’s HRIS systems while producing high leverage staff data reporting and analytics to drive business outcomes. In addition to staff data analysis, this person will be responsible for collecting and managing internal and external compensation statistics to recommend, develop, and implement IDEA’s compensation programs.

Primary Staff Data Analysis Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare staff data reports from Skyward to organization administrators/staff as requested
  2. Perform database audits and improve processes as necessary
  3. Process personnel changes in Skyward including salary increases, change in pay/position information, demographical changes, and bank information changes for all organization employees
  4. Assist in auditing payroll records including data entry changes, additions or closeouts to ensure data and payroll accuracy including account number changes/updates.
  5. Assist organization personnel with questions regarding their compensation, withholdings and/or deductions and time off balances as applicable.
  6. Assist in upholding and enforcing department policies, administrative regulations, and state and local policies surrounding payroll.
  7. Assist with reporting of PEIMS staff data for submissions one and three of annual PEIMS reporting cycle.
  8. Assist business office with accrual reports for position and contract changes.
  9. Prepare, manage and edit all organizational staffing roster templates to include providing administrative support during the annual budget planning.
  10. Execute the annual Skyward employee database rollover in partnership with other department staff
  11. Assist in implementation of enhanced application components of Skyward employee management system i.e. Position Control
  12. Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned

Primary Compensation Analyst Responsibilities:

  1. Reviews new positions in anticipation of recruitment to ensure appropriate classification. Based on position-specific information, determines if an existing description can be used for classification. As necessary, modifies and creates new descriptions which accurately reflect current roles, responsibilities and requirements.
  2. Uses published or conducts ad hoc surveys to obtain and analyze market pay rates. Makes recommendations on appropriate pay grade level. Reviews recommendations within context for internal equity. Prepares reports on findings and handles administrative steps to formalize recommendations.
  3. Reviews employees’ request for classification review and makes classification/pay level determinations. This includes reviewing job questionnaires, conferring with managers and employees, evaluating jobs and preparing written reports on findings. Communicates with stakeholders regarding the result of compensation work.
  4. Reviews jobs for reorganizations, contractual reviews and projects, including both job audit and evaluation. Documents job-specific findings and recommendations to contribute to a comprehensive project report.
  1. Working within PCC systems and procedures, ensures all aspects of job creation are addressed in a timely manner i.e. creation of position numbers, posting of new and revised descriptions, etc.
  2. Researches situations as they arise related to aspects of compensation to provide clarity for resolution in consideration of contract provisions, historical practices, similar situations, etc.
  3. Develops and documents procedures to streamline processes and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements.
  4. Provides analytical support and data analysis on projects and human resource metrics.
  5. Reviews and recommends salary placements for new hires, as requested.
  6. Provides data input to annual salary surveys.
  7. Positions in this classification may perform all or some of the responsibilities above and all positions perform other related duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, Computer Science or related field.
  • 2-5 years experience in data management, preferably staff data or closely related field
  • Professional compensation certification, (CCP) preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of:

  • Human Resources principles and best practices in compensation including job analysis/evaluation;
  • Applicable Federal, State, and local rules, regulations and/or statutes;
  • Research methods and data analysis techniques;
  • Master knowledge of Excel for analysis of data;
  • Customer service principles.


Skill in:

  • Conducting studies and preparing sound recommendations;
  • Analyzing and interpreting policies, practices and procedures;
  • Preparing written reports for varied audiences;
